As soon as the fire made the news I panicked. My family lives right in that area. Once I was sure they drove off to evade the massive fire blowing in their direction, burning down structure after structure, with winds racing up to 75 MPH, I got online to do some research, just in case their home was spared from this natural disaster I wanted to be prepared and proactive. I recalled seeing foam spray systems on the news a few years before during the last fires in Malibu. And how they saved homes while others next door burned to the ground. How I wished I could turn back time and install such a system at my family’s home right in the path of the Tea Fire. Knowing my parents were gone and now safe from the fire’s reaches all I could think about was how hard they worked building that dream home and the million little things inside of it we would forever miss if their home was engulfed in flames like the ones I was seeing on the news that night.

Online from Chicago I found Consumer Fire Products and the FoamSafe Systems they install. I read everything I could find and called that very night thinking I would leave a message and someone would call me back the next day. It was only an hour or two since the Tea Fire began when Irene Rhodes answered the phone. She was beyond helpful and excellent customer service doesn’t begin to describe how she and her company sprung into action providing world class service and safety I didn’t know even existed at that time. Obviously installing a system would have to come later as the fire had only just begun. But she explained a mobile service they have and how it worked. To me it was like a miracle, a way to protect our family home in an emergency. One of their trucks loaded with the FoamSafe spray and three of her firefighting experts drove up to my parents home and sat on the property for three days until the threat had passed. They maintained a constant vigil and kept in contact with us the whole time. They were prepared to spray down the whole property themselves if the threat came close enough. Something their systems do automatically after designed and installed in addition to manual engagement. When the cell towers burned down that first night into the tragedy Irene drove up to Montecito and checked on her team at our house herself to make sure everything was alright. Communication was nearly impossible and I was worried since she said she would call and I could no longer reach her. Once she checked on all her customers and her crew she drove back to the office in the middle of the night. Not only was I relieved to hear our home was still standing and being expertly protected, but the level of customer service blew my mind. She drove into the fire zone in the middle of the night and then drove all the way back to Ventura to call me from a land line to let me know everything was under control and to try not to worry.

The outstanding customer service has not faltered one bit from that first panicked late night phone call I made as a hopeful future preventative measure.
